Sandwell Aquatic Centre

The proposed new Smethwick Aquatic Centre is a £60m state-of-the-art aquatics centre being developed in Smethwick.

The centre will have an Olympic-sized competition swimming pool a 25m diving pool, and a community swimming pool. The main pool will feature a boom and a move-able floor which means that the length and depth of the pool can be varied, enabling a larger number of groups of all ages and abilities to use it.  

The centre will be used by University of Wolverhampton students for teaching and will become a home venue for representatives of the University through WLV Sports. Read more here.

Alongside the swimming facilities the centre will also include:

  • diving and swimming events for the Games in 2022
  • 450 on-site car parking spaces
  • three activity studios
  • minimum 8-court sports hall
  • 108-station gym
  • 25-station ladies-only gym
  • indoor cycling studio
  • dry driving centre
  • sauna/steam room
  • new football pitch and changing facilities
  • new urban park and chidren's play area; and a
  • café
