Young People got on their bikes in Tipton...
Consultation with young people in the Tipton area identified that BMX activities were wanted within the local area.
Working with South Tipton Extended Partnership, Sandwell MBC and StreetGames, BMX coaching sessions were arranged and advertised as part of a Community Games festival.
On the Community Games festival day itself young people were eagerly waiting and with the sun shining there was a great atmosphere. As well as a BMX competition there were DJ workshops and the opportunity to paint the skate ramps in urban art.
Over 100 young people attended the event which was supported by the Police and Sandwell Council.

Lisa Rashid, Physical Activity Development Officer for Sandwell Leisure Trust said;  'The project was a huge success, we engaged with lots of young people and provided them with the opportunity to be physically active.  The atmosphere was great and we had numerous requests to run a similar event next year.’

After the success of this project SLT are now looking to secure funding to deliver a similar event next year and also expand it to other areas of Sandwell.
