Tipton tea dancers open new studio

It’s not just the regulars of the popular tea dancing group who will enjoy the benefits of the new studio – new classes including Bodypump, Zumba, Kettlebell30,ViPR30 and Express Abs will also take place.

The purpose built dance studio has been part funded by environmental funder SITA Trust who provide support through the Landfill Communities Fund. The new facility will support an exciting and diverse group fitness programme, which has now been launched at the centre.

Jools Granville of SITA Trust said: "It’s wonderful to see this much needed new dance studio being used by such varied groups.  Rather fittingly the first community group to enjoy the new studio are regular users of Tipton Sports Academy, having met there three times a week for the past 15 years. Their policy of welcoming newcomers of all ages and abilities is inspiring."

John Harling, Facility Manager, said: “With the Government recommending adults do 5x30 minutes of physical activity per week, dancing and exercise to music is a great way for people to get fit and stay active whilst socialising with friends.”

SITA Trust's Landfill Communities Fund supports community improvement projects in areas near to their waste processing sites.
The popular tea dance group has recently celebrated its 15th anniversary dancing at the centre. More than 30 tea dancers meet each Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for a dance, chat and refreshments.
