Tipton Sports Academy Front of House Refurbishment as Part of Major Investment in New Padel Courts
Sandwell Leisure Trust (SLT) is excited to announce the refurbishment of the Front of House area at Tipton Sports Academy (TSA), as part of a wider investment to bring three brand-new indoor padel courts to the facility.
This latest development underscores SLT’s ongoing commitment to enhancing local sports facilities and ensuring the people of Sandwell have access to high-quality services.
There will also be additional work to the hallways and toilets, upgrading the space and member experience. A fresh, modern look will provide a comfortable and relaxing space for users to grab a coffee before or after their workout, tennis, padel or any other activity at the Centre.
A new and improved retail area, including a range of equipment and clothing for Tennis and Padel as well as an enhanced refreshment offering, TSA is set to become the go-to destination for racquet sport lovers in the region.

Improved Facilities for a Better Customer Experience
Work on the reception refurbishment will commence on Monday 10th March, with an estimated completion time of three weeks. To align with the official launch of the new padel courts, we anticipate reopening the improved reception to the public on Friday, 5th April.
During this period, access to the building will be relocated approximately 10 metres to the right of the existing entrance. The temporary entrance will be clearly signposted to ensure a smooth experience for all visitors.
Uninterrupted Tennis Activities
SLT is committed to minimising disruption to existing users of Tipton Sports Academy. All Direct Debit Tennis squads, Staffordshire County Performance bookings, 1:1 private lessons, adult lessons, community tennis, and public pay-and-play sessions will continue as scheduled. To facilitate seamless access:
• Coach-led tennis activities: Coaches will enter via the tennis hall and admit members of the public through designated external fire exits.
• Public pay-and-play tennis: Players will be directed via signage around the building to designated fire exits for entry. A wireless doorbell system will be in place for convenience, allowing Duty Managers or coaches on the courts to provide access.
• Tournaments: Access during tournaments will be restricted to the central balcony fire exits on the back pitch, ensuring match play courts remain undisturbed. Referees will have access to a doorbell chime system to assist parents and players requiring entry for toilet breaks.
• The gym will remain open, however you will need to enter through the temporary entrance for the period of the works.
