Tipton Leisure Centre's September Gym Challenge

Tipton Leisure Centre’s new gym challenge season just started in September and this month’s challenge is the crucifix hold.

Already we’ve had 20 customers attempt the challenge, which involves holding a pair of dumbbells at shoulder height, with straight arms for as long as possible. The results are recorded on the scoreboard in the gym and each participant can have up to 3 attempts at the challenge during the month.

The league runs from September 2023-May 2024, with a different challenge each month and customers can join the league at any point during the season. Participants gain points for taking part in each challenge, with the best results/ highest finishing places gaining the most points. The challenges are open to people of all ages and fitness levels.

At the end of the season, the best participant overall will be crowned gym challenge champion. Last season, 16 year old Eric became champion and received a trophy along with one month’s free membership. Prizes were also awarded to the runners up.

Details of October’s challenge will be announced soon. If you would like to take part in any of the challenges, please approach the gym instructor on duty, who would then witness your attempt and record your result. For further details or if you have any questions, please speak to Markus from the gym team at Tipton Leisure Centre.
