Sandwell Aquatics Gym Refresh
20/10/2025
Sandwell Leisure Trust (SLT) is pleased to announce that the gym at Sandwell Aquatics Centre is about to undergo an exciting refresh designed to enhance the training experience for members and the local community.
The improvement works, scheduled to take around 10 days, will incorporate both essential upgrades and eye-catching new features into the state-of-the-art facility. The gym will be closed as we undertake this work.
Key elements of the refresh include:
- Essential repairs to the Free Weights Floor to keep the training space safe and robust
- A range of new strength equipment, including an additional smith machine, half rack, preacher curl bench, curl bar, Olympic weights, dumbbells, adjustable benches and a dual adjustable pulley
- Supplemental LED lighting, with a striking halo around the free weights mirror and glowing rings around the steel columns to create a modern, motivating workout environment
- Fresh feature wall decoration for a stylish uplift
- Installation of new turnstiles to improve access control and minimise unauthorised entry (coming December 2025)
While the works are carried out, members will have access to all other SLT gyms, ensuring training programmes can continue without interruption. The HIIT studio and functional fitness space at Sandwell Aquatics Centre will also remain open throughout the refresh.
Mark Braithwaite, CEO of Sandwell Leisure Trust, said:
“We’re really excited to be enhancing the gym at Sandwell Aquatics Centre. These works will not only improve the look and feel of the facility but also provide our members with even more options to support their health and fitness goals. We can’t wait to unveil the refreshed space.”
