New programmes attracting new visitors to West Smethwick Park

Sandwell Leisure Trust are delivering more fitness fun in West Smethwick Park this autumn with two new programmes, Dog & Jog & Boot Camp.

Both programmes run over a six week period with the aim to bring more local residents into the park. These programmes follow the success of the parks first Couch to 5K programme which saw over 300 people register for this fun health programme.

The new Family Dog & Jog programme has attracted families to the park to participate together, many of which are completely new customers to Sandwell Leisure Trust. Participants complete a group warm up before jogging around a different trail each week taking in the stunning environment of the park. At the end of the session everyone is encouraged to stay for drink and share their love of dogs with each other. The programme attracted sixty-four registrations.

Susan from Smethwick added " I really enjoyed it despite having done no running EVER and pushing age 40. I was a little scared but the team were really friendly & supportive."

The Boot Camp programme attracted 50 registration places quickly after going on sale. Participants have been very lucky with some very kind weather for the start of the programme in which class members are put through their paces by the fitness team from Smethwick Swimming Centre.

Places are still available for both programmes. You can register online via SLT’s website

Sandwell Leisure Trust (SLT) were awarded a prestigious 10 year contract to run a new community facility at West Smethwick Park and the existing Sons of Rest building on behalf of Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council.
