Meet The Member - Jade

An interview with Tipton Leisure Centre Member, Jade, who shares details about her fitness journey and offers some advice.
What’s
your age and location?
I’m 19 years old and live in Tipton.
What’s
your weekly workout routine?
I
usually follow a routine of 3 strength sessions and one cardio session, train 4
times a week in total.
Tell
us about your fitness journey?
I
started out exercising at home and lost 3 stone over the course of 1 year. I
then joined the gym in 2018, mainly doing fitness classes, such as pump, combat
etc.
During the lockdown, I started following a resistance training programme and I have continued to focus on building muscle and strength training since going back to gym.
Are
there any reasons you use Tipton Leisure Centre and how does SLT meet your
needs?
It’s very
close to my house and the staff and other members are friendly.
The
centre has a range of classes and a gym which are both included in the
membership, so I’m able to mix up my workouts.
What
motivates you to keep going?
I feel better when I'm healthy, exercise is brilliant for my mental health.
Can you offer and advice for anyone thinking of
starting a healthier lifestyle?
My advice is to JUST START.
Focus on the small changes and focus more on your strength
and how you feel rather than the scales.
Don’t rely purely on motivation, you must be disciplined enough
to continue even when you don’t feel like it.
