Instructor Helen is thrilled to be back!
SLT fitness instructor Helen is both excited and relieved to be teaching again as Indoor Fitness Group sessions have begun in line with Government guidance. Helen Hill (age 54 from Rowley Regis) took her first class for six months - Indoor Cycling on Monday 17th May at Haden Hill Leisure Centre closely followed by low impact Aerobics for her 50+ group.
She has worked at Haden Hill for the last 30 years and developed a very loyal and engaged customer base – and says it was just as important for her to be back exercising and socially interacting again.
Helen explained: “I’ve not done a lot of fitness work myself staying safe at home and you definitely feel isolated and miss your colleagues, friends and regulars. Regular exercise and social interaction is crucial for our physical and mental well-being and we’re all absolutely thrilled to be back.
“It’s been extra tough for our older customers, with some shielding, because you stiffen up and can gain weight, etc, when out of routine, plus we’re like one big happy family here at Haden Hill, so the beaming smiles this morning we’re so uplifting and fantastic to see.
“SLT are really hot on all their activities being delivered in a COVID-secure manner too – social distancing measures in place, face masks on until you take your class position, hand gels plus cleaning agents and disposable cloths for wiping down equipment, etc - and that’s reassuring and lets both staff and customers get on an enjoy the classes.”
Two of Helen’s regulars were equally buzzing to be back exercising again and catching up with old friends. Clare Moseley, age 47 from Cradley, said: “I’ve been dying to get back to fitness classes. Really missed the motivation from the amazing team of instructors and fellow members.”
Andy Pountney, age 54 from Halesowen, added: “Great to be getting back to Haden Hill, to begin a journey of a thousand miles, taking that first step.”
