Historic Olympic torch comes to Tipton Sports Academy
History came to Tipton Sports Academy this week when the Centre staff welcomed the 1948 Olympic Torch.
The torch stopped off at the Centre as part of an event that is seeing runners carry the torch from Much Wenlock to London over the coming weeks stopping of at iconic athletics tracks along the way.
Paul Marshall, facility Manager said “We were extremely pleased that as part of the torch’s journey to London the organisers choose Tipton Sports Academy to visit. The track has a long standing history with both the local and national athletics communities, so it’s great to have this recognised by such a visit.”
