'Dear Special Olympics Supporters, just to let you know the fantastic news that the Sandwell Basketball Team played their first Basketball Competition on Sunday 6th April at Nechells Birmingham organised by Special Olympics Redditch & Sutton Coldfield. They played 3 matches in the morning and were in the finals in the afternoon, which they won!They were each awarded a Gold Medal for First Place. Grateful thanks to all our Volunteers for help in training and competition; Karl Blick our Basketball Coach who trained the team and encouraged them in their competition, Wicky Corcoran minibus driver & escort Gill Collins who provided transport & encouraging support for the team all day. Thanks to Sandwell Leisure Trust, Hadley Stadium, Smethwick and Options for Life for their continued support. Well done to all 9 members of the Sandwell team; Paul Collins, Leroy Howard,Sean Flynn, Emma Noble, Antonio Douglas, William Madeley, David Poole, Scott Bradley and Liz Griffiths.'
