Tennis Sports Development

Tennis is one of the ‘focus sports’ managed by the sports development team. Working with the Staffordshire Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), we try to get people from all walks of life, ages and abilities interested in tennis.

Tennis in Sandwell

Sandwell has one of the best public indoor tennis centres in the country, at Tipton Sports Academy. It has six indoor cushioned acrylic and six floodlit outdoor acrylic tennis courts. There is also a children’s ‘mini tennis’ area (a scaled down court) and a knock up wall.

Activities available at the centre include

• Pay and play
• Junior tennis coaching
• Mini tennis (for children aged 4-11)
• Teen’s Bronze, Silver & Gold Squads (children aged 10-18)
• Performance squads
• ‘School’s out’ fun tennis sessions for primary and secondary school children
• Adult coffee mornings and 50+ mix in sessions
• Adult coaching groups
• Community tennis sessions
• Individual tennis lessons (book with coach)

We partner with Sandwell schools as part of our outreach programme. We send coaches into schools to run tennis sessions in curriculum time and at after school clubs - to inspire the children to join the programme at Tipton Sports Academy.

All our coaches are professionally qualified through the LTA and hold full LTA coach licences.
