Portway Lifestyle Centre is an exciting new leisure facility for Sandwell bringing together sport, physical activity and health.
Sandwell Council, in partnership with Sandwell Leisure Trust, Sandwell Primary Care Trust and the Sandwell Local Improvement Finance Trust (LIFT) Company, is demolishing Oldbury Leisure Centre to build a new health, well being and leisure facility.
The Sandwell LIFT Company is a public private partnership set up to modernise health, social care and community premises across Sandwell. This project aims to provide choice and increase opportunities, improving health and social well being in the Sandwell community.
This brand new facility will be called Portway Lifestyle Centre and will include a sports hall, a hydrotherapy pool, a gym and weight area, a dance studio, a climbing wall and a cafeteria as well as a purpose-built site for a GP surgery, Tividale Family Practice. It will be open to everyone and will be a centre of excellence for people with disabilities. It is currently due for completion in 2013.
