The Trust’s Sports Development and Physical Activity Team which develops and runs a range of activities for Sandwell residents, has been awarded a score of 77% following a two day assessment by Quest, the UK’s quality scheme for Sport and Leisure.
As well as working with local athletes, coaches, clubs and schools, the team delivers community sessions such as yoga, bowls, badminton, football and volleyball tournaments, playing an important role in delivering Sandwell Leisure Trust’s mission to create an active Sandwell.
Becky Clayton, Sports Development and Physical Activity Manager for Sandwell Leisure Trust said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the team and a reflection of the hard work, commitment and enthusiasm they have shown throughout the year.
“We will now strive to improve on our score to ensure we continue to deliver the best possible service for the people of Sandwell.”
The Quest Award tops an impressive year for the team which was presented with the Community Initiative of the Year Award at the Black Country Sport and Physical Activity Awards 2010 and was awarded the coveted Inspire mark for its Focus on Activity Theme weeks project which encouraged grass roots participation in a variety of sports.
Quest is a continuous improvement tool designed for managing teams involved in development activities which encourage increased participation in physical activity, sport, recreation, play and other cultural activities. The scheme assesses a number of management areas including strategy and planning, operations and delivery, customer relations and staff management.
